With the close of the summer transfer window less than two days away, we are bound to get rumours of various last-minute transfers, one of which entails Arsenal FC having transfer links with Brazil international, Philippe Coutinho.
On Tuesday, rumours had gone viral in France that Arsenal had completed the transfer move for Coutinho. This report was not confirmed by Arsenal, Barcelona or the player involved.
There are reports of a possible loan move for Coutinho. However, to further debunk the reports linking the Gunners to Brazil star, manager Unai Emery had disclosed over the weekend that Arsenal FC never spoke of signing Coutinho.
Emery following the match against Barcelona last night told SER: “We’ve never talked about Coutinho.
“He’s a splendid player, but we haven’t talked about Coutinho at any time.”
Apart from Arsenal, French Ligue 1 toppers, Paris Saint Germain PSG have at some point taken interest in the Brazil winger.
Barcelona signed Coutinho in a mouth-watering deal worth £135.2 million from Liverpool in 2018.
Going by Emery’s word, Coutinho is not in Arsenal’s plan for this summer but there is no doubt that adding the winger to Arsenal’s current squad will make their attack wing one of the most dangerous in the EPL.
